Privacy Policy for SIGNAL
This Privacy Policy explains how Melvin Lee (“we”, “us”, or “the developer”) handles information in connection with the mobile game SIGNAL (the “Game”, “App”), available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
SIGNAL is a general-audience game and is not directed to children under 13. We designed the Game to collect as little data as possible: there are no user accounts, and we never ask for your name, email address, phone number, or precise location.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide to us
None. SIGNAL has no sign-up, login, or account system. We do not collect any name, email address, phone number, postal address, or other information you would type in.
Information collected automatically
- Game progress & a random device identifier. To save your progress and restore it if you reinstall or switch devices, the Game generates a random identifier (a “Player ID” — a randomly generated UUID created on your device) and stores your game state (level, in-game currencies, puzzle progress, and settings) in our cloud database. This Player ID is random and is not linked to your real-world identity — we cannot use it to identify you personally.
- Advertising data. The Game shows rewarded video ads through Unity LevelPlay mediation, served by Unity Ads and ironSource. To serve and measure those ads, these providers and their partners may collect your device’s advertising identifier (Apple’s IDFA on iOS, Google Advertising ID on Android), IP address, approximate (coarse) location derived from that IP address, and ad-interaction data (such as which ads were shown and whether they were viewed or tapped).
- Purchase records. If you make an in-app purchase, our purchase-validation provider RevenueCat receives the transaction details (which item you bought, a purchase/transaction identifier, and the store receipt) so we can deliver your purchase and prevent fraud. Your payment itself is processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play — we never receive your card number or billing details.
2. How We Use Information
- To save, load, and synchronize your game progress across sessions and devices.
- To operate our one-time “early adopter” launch reward, which uses your Player ID to grant a bonus to the first players who reach a milestone (we store only the Player ID, an install rank number, and a timestamp).
- To display advertisements and grant you in-game rewards for watching them.
- To process, validate, and deliver your in-app purchases.
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and technical problems.
3. Advertising and Your Choices
Our advertising is delivered through Unity LevelPlay mediation (Unity Ads and ironSource). You can learn how Unity uses data from apps that use its services here: Unity Game Player and App User Privacy Policy.
- iOS: When you first play, the App asks for permission to track (Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt). If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalized. You can change this any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Android: You can reset or delete your Advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalization, in Settings → Google → Ads.
4. Service Providers We Share Data With
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers we rely on to run the Game:
- Unity Ads / ironSource (advertising, via Unity LevelPlay) — Unity Privacy Policy.
- Supabase (cloud database that stores your game saves) — Supabase Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat (in-app-purchase processing & receipt validation) — RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
Your game save is kept in our cloud database until it is deleted. Because we store data against an anonymous Player ID and hold no identifying information about you, the simplest way to remove your data is to delete the App (this removes the local copy) — reinstalling later generates a brand-new Player ID rather than restoring the old save.
If you would like us to delete the cloud record associated with your Player ID, contact us at the email below. To locate your specific record we may need you to provide your Player ID.
6. Children’s Privacy
SIGNAL is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or the California CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell your data for money. Personalized advertising may be considered “sharing” under some laws; you can opt out at any time using the device controls described in Section 3 (declining App Tracking Transparency on iOS, or resetting/limiting your Advertising ID on Android), which causes ads to be non-personalized. To exercise any other right, contact us at the email below.
8. Data Security
Data transmitted between the App and our service providers is encrypted in transit using industry- standard TLS (HTTPS). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect the limited data we handle.
9. International Data Transfers
Our service providers (Unity, Supabase, and RevenueCat) may process and store data on servers located in countries other than your own. By using the App, you understand that your data may be transferred to and processed in those locations.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
